Route: Stock Ghyll Force & Skelwith Force
The weather today and tomorrow are set to be really bad, with torrential rain and gale force winds so a swift decision was made to stay low and simply check out a couple of the waterfalls around Ambleside and do a bit of shopping. We headed over to Skelwith Force first and were hoping it to be in spate. After that we drove to Amblewide and using a brief window of dry weather we headed round the tourist path to Stock Ghyll Force.

Looking up river from the top of the falls. Plenty of water today!

Dont get too close when the water is like this!

This was taken from the footbridge alongside. The water level was too high to cross onto the rocks and get a proper view of the waterfall but from here was good enough.

Now over to Stock Ghyll Force.

The first of the falls along the path.

Roaring white waters today.

I was expecting a little more water flowing today to be honest when comparing it to Skelwith Force.

Still a beautiful sight in any weather.

Stock Ghyll Force taken over a longer shutter speed.
