| Originally Alcock Tarn was named Butter Crags Tarn before it was enlarged by a small dam. It is located high above the village of Grasmere on a natural shelf and is an easy tarn to walk to. As you can see from the photo below, it is quite popular too, even on a cloudy day. | |||||
